With encounters as theme, secondary school pupils are conducting research to reconstruct the history of the first contact between the Kanaks and the Marist missionaries in 1843. From ancient texts to more recent works, from libraries to museums, including the Quai Branly in Paris, and thanks to specialists, this research has come to fruition and shows the link woven between Kanak culture and Christianity, the outcome of which is a contemporary third culture.
